KGNU's Ornette Coleman Interview:
Ornette Coleman was born on March 9, 1930 in Fort Worth, Texas. He began his performing career with R&B bands in his hometown, even sharing the stage with Bob Wills. Since then he has gone on to establish the Free Jazz movement and is regarded as a major innovator in modern music. KGNU's Sam Fuqua spoke with him about his latest work, Sound Grammar, which was later awarded the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for music.

Barbés Records has uncovered The Roots of Chicha. In the '60s, a sound emerged that united Peru's indigenous melodies with Colombia's cumbia rhythm, surf rock wah-wah pedals, and rock and roll organ-playing.
