Life is feeling very intense and busy of late, especially with much work to do to get ready for the fund drive and generally more organized. So of course I dealt by taking four days off, if today counts. The goal was to ski three different mountains in three days, not hard here in Colorado. Friday it was Copper Mountain for somewhat icy conditions. Saturday on Ajax it was still solidly packed powder but after watching all those Olympic skiers, I got inspired to just lay my edges into the hill and enjoy the ride. What a blast! By the end of Saturday I could feel the outside of my legs, between my shins and calves. Sunday I headed over to Snowmass to check out their renovations in progress. I didn't like the way skiers are so directed to the Big Burn right now so I headed off to other areas, which felt easy enough to do from Sam's Knob where we were taken on the new six-seater. Yesterday was so much fun and I wasn't sure when I could ever use my last day on my pass so what was there to do but start today with a few hours back on Ajax. The views from there are so amazing, mountains all around, Crested Butte right behind (where a bunch of my friends were skiing over the weekend.)

I watched the Oscars with my mom last night. She hadn't seen as many of the films as I have but we had fun commenting on the dress of the attendees, makeup jobs, whether they had talent or not….. I was glad to see Crash get the overall nod. I thought it a better, more genuinely provocative, and more substantial than Brokeback Mountain. I can't argue with Ang Lee as director, he captured the land and images well. I was upset to realize I had not seen a single one of the foreign films nominated this year, though I'd seen two of the documentaries ( I would have chosen Murderball over the Penguins.)

Our drive starts March 31 and runs through April 8. This spring's goal will again be $225,000.
