I'm off to the Folk Alliance conference in Austin this weekend, Thursday through Monday. While I will be back in time for tracking next week, charts will be frozen and I won't have reviewed much of the mail.

Of course Super Bowl Sunday to me meant a ski day. Lots of other people headed up early but come noon, the hoardes headed home and the mountain was much nicer. It's still been fairly cold in the hills, but the snow has been too good to pass up. It's fun to be on my shorty skis and not mind heading down the black diamond runs when I joined up with the gang of friends mid day. I got home in time to see enough of the football game to catch Troy Polamalu's hair flying out of his helmet.

My friend Pam's birthday was last Thursday, Groundhog Day. We met up for dinner at Mataam Fez where she told me yes, winter will last at least six more weeks. Mataam Fez is our old, classic Moroccan Restaurant, replete with belly dancer and waiters who balance your cup on the elbow or forehead to pour your tea. Somehow we got into the conversation of how do people meet and stick together and sucked the waiter in. He mentioned that he lives with his wife, and her boyfriend. He says it was just all about getting over the jealousy and being comfortable with himself. Lovely and unusual and certainly topping anything we could come up with.
