Weekly Report from Boulder

I'll be off next week for a full week in the mountains with the family, spending a lot of time hiking with my sister.  Kathy Gilbert will cover for me but there will be no tracking nor charts for the week.

KGNU's Book and Record (and CD and poster and whatever else isn't nailed down) sale comes up August 27, here at the station.  We'll be putting up the big tent the week before to host an Art Show on August 20th and a Gospel Potluck on Sunday afternoon, the 21st.  This year's Book and Record Sale is huge, with great donations from area book and record stores.  Not to mention that I go on channel 9 tomorrow morning to give it a push.  Come by if you are in the area, the sale starts at 9am for members, 10am for the general public.  Come early for the great selection, come late for amazing bargains.

This past week has been about getting back into Colorado mode for me.  It's intense at work as catch up then prep to leave again, all the while thinking ahead to the book and record sale!  But of course I gave myself time over the weekend to get in a bike ride on Saturday.  Then Sunday my friends Bonnie, Bill and Margie and I all headed up to Rocky Mountain National Park for a hike.  It's rather crowded there this time of year but once we got up high we had some areas to ourselves.  As it was hot in town it was quite lovely to get up high to the cooler air and the delicious scent of the pines and to sit by some beautiful mountain lakes.

Ahh, the cost of the hockey agreement.  We lost Peter Forsberg, one of the great players of today and Adam Foote, one of the last of the original players when the Avs moved here from Quebec.  The good news for me was that Milan Hejduk signed a five-year deal.  What's not to love about a player whose name rhymes with George Hayduke?
