Weekly Report from Boulder
Ya know, it never hurts to have Big Bird on your side!  I'm under no illusion that it's stations like ours that have convinced the House to restore funding to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.  But one poll I saw on MSMBC of all places, said that 95% of us have greater trust in news information from public media.  Thanks to everyone for making those calls and reminding our representatives that public broadcasting is important and that a 25% slash in the budget is not acceptable.

Sadly this is not the end of this struggle.  Bush continues to do more of his damage from the inside of organizations like CPB.  Now that they have inserted Ken Tomlinson as chair and Patricia Harrison, former Republican Party co-chairman, as president and chief executive it's hard to know what direction the CPB will head.

Last week was our Bike to Work Week.  As I already ride in at least once a week, to step it up I rode in three days in a row.  It's so much less stressful than driving alongside drivers busier on their cell phones than with their steering wheels and especially nice when I can take the route by the Boulder Reservoir and enjoy the views of the water and the mountains together.  My friend John came by to be our bike mechanic on Wednesday, the official Bike to Work day and all of our staff with bicycles made our bikes much happier as a result.  The trade off was my boss and I got to spend some quality time with the twins as John got his hands greasy.

I'd hoped to see Michelle Shocked last week but sadly she cancelled.  It wasn't a good week for in-studios as another performance we had scheduled also fell through.
