Weekly Report from Boulder
I may not get a full week off for spring break, but I still like a long spring weekend for skiing! Friday I made it up to Copper Mountain and joined the hordes in long lift lines for okay snow. Showers seemed imminent so I left before last lift of the day to continue on the road to Aspen. Saturday it was snowing and socked in but I still headed up the hill and found those areas where there was some visibility. By afternoon it cleared up a good bit and I spent some time on Ruthie's Run, a fun cruiser along the side of the mountain with wonderful views down the valley. They said three inches had fallen but at times I found myself in as much as six inches of nice soft snow.

Sunday it was up early for a few runs before taking Mom out for Easter brunch at the Hotel Jerome. It's nice this time of year with the later sunset to make the drive home later in the day and avoid the worst of the traffic.

I still have the last remnants of the crud though I think I skied a lot of it off. So while I am sleeping a lot, I saved up some energy to get out to hear Los Lobos in an acoustic set last Tuesday at the Fox. Of course their definition of acoustic is a bit loose, occasional electric bass and of course most instruments had pickups. But I love seeing them feature the traditional side, including songs introduced as what as young kids they would play for their moms. These guys still put on an entertaining and energetic show!

We're busily getting ready for the spring fund drive, but two weeks away from this Friday. In the meantime, we've been doing a lot of reorganizing around here as we expand our library space. It's so nice to finally be able to file away bluegrass, which had been accumulating in the air studio's "GNU Bin" for lack of space in the back library.

Congratulations to WRFN, Radio Free Nashville, bringing community radio to Kentucky. They will be hosting their barn raising party this weekend with help from the Prometheus Radio Project. Hooray for the continuing growth of community voices on the airwaves, which, you may remember, are an asset of the American people!
