Weekly Report from Boulder

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! Of course it's just a regular workday for me, but there weren't as many cars on the road this morning!

Over the weekend I cooked for some friends who just had twins. I can't imagine how people cope with quintuplets as busy as my friends are with two new babies. Their house, once a bastion of bicycling and outdoor gear, has now become totally immersed in all things baby! Ah well, at least Martha and I could still talk and have a fairly normal conversation even while she breastfed the two at once.

After that we(no, not Martha) headed off to Denver for a quick dinner at Pete's Kitchen, a classic Greek diner that is so not Boulder! Next door we stopped in at Pete's Satire Lounge for some beer before heading in to the Fillmore for Spearhead. He's still able to pack the shows around here and very quickly get the crowd up and jumping! Of course there was a good bit of new material as I understand a new album is soon to get to the recording stage. I like the reggae feel in many of these tracks. The Fillmore is about a 3000 person venue, so my worst run-in of the evening came due to the fact that there is but one drinking fountain for the whole place!!! I asked a bartender about water and he said that management would NOT let them put out a pitcher for people to just be able to grab water. Three cheers for our hometown venues like the Fox and the Boulder who are not so narrow minded!
