Weekly Reports for 10/4/04

We're in that busy pre-drive mode here now at the station. Of course there is so much going on with just our day-to-day work that I don't feel very ready. And I engineered two ISDN interviews, which is a fun change but can get or keep me here at odd hours.

Tom Waits stayed high in my consciousness as I caught his great appearance on Letterman. Then over the weekend I watched Coffee and Cigarettes. Would you want Waits doing a tracheotomy on you with a ballpoint pen?

The weekend was kinda mellow. I was feeling a bit sad, that fall kind of thing, so I stayed close to home. I had five different people swear they would be calling this weekend and none did. Isn't it weird when that hits? Of course the bicycling is great this time of year so I did a few nice mountain bike rides. It's only in the last week or so where I've been doing rides from work, not just the commute. I like changing it up and getting to ride somewhere other than my most standard rides.

Thursday I joined some friends to go out to watch the presidential 'debate.' We had some other people sit next to us then say "oh, one more person is coming." Wouldn't you know it would be my neighbor! I thought Kerry handled himself well. He gave off a much more presidential, respectful vibe than GW, who seemed not very present, nor to spend much time listening. Bush's main argument struck me as "I've been president so you should keep me and not change." Like that's a compelling reason to vote for him?
