Weekly Report from Boulder
We’ve been hosting a lot of ISDN interviews lately. I got to engineer a very interesting one last week where Lee Buttrill came in to talk about his selection for one of the Move On TV ads. A Marine now in reserves and back in college, Lee followed the trend in the military of supporting Bush in the last election. But now that he’s been to Iraq and seen what it’s really about he’s very open about changing his party and vote this year.

It was a week full of variety for me as I plunged back into the urban planning world and attended some charettes at Prospect New Town featuring the main designer, Andres Duany. He’s considered to be the guru of New Urbanism, a style of development in direct contrast to our classic suburbia. He was great to interview and I hope to use that to do a feature on New Urbanism.

Music for the week? Not a big highlight. Saturday was Niwot Nostalgia Days and some friends and I wandered over to hear some of the Nacho Men. They are appropriately named - totally cheesy and old school. So it was rather funny to see the Niwot teens pogoing away to the hits of the 60s. One of them requested Outkast and amazingly they did pull off a cover of Hey Yeah which was rather amusing. The organizers had to make a few stern warnings "no crowd surfing or the band stops!" One of my friends said, “oh that must be the church group, they are always the rowdiest.”

It seems like we’re not the only area having a late version of summer, it’s finally warm outside. I spent a lot of time bicycling this weekend as I feel as if I haven’t been riding enough this year.
