Weekly Report from Boulder
War related photos are a big deal in the media again I see. It’s so sad that we have now sunk to the level that we claimed we were working to overcome by abusing prisoners in Iraq. Our local papers have been keeping the storied buried rather deep into the paper.
Amy Goodman is in town, speaking tonight and tomorrow on behalf of KGNU. She’ll be hosting her radio show all week from Boulder based Free Speech TV. People seemed dismayed that we had no more tickets to sell today. We were more dismayed that it took until late last week for the show to sell out.
No live music for me last week. I did get to catch up on some movies this weekend though. What took me so long to see Ghostworld? Funny, clever and quirky. And I got out to see Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… and Spring. I haven’t seen many Korean films before. This is a Buddhist tale, very quiet and subtle but beautifully filmed. It’s the kind of film that leaves you with so many different levels to contemplate, from the motivation of the young monk to the beauty of the landscape to the deeper teachings.
Also on tap was getting to watch hockey on Saturday. Seeing San Jose score first had me scared, but captain Joe came to the rescue, making sure the Avalanche live to skate another day.
