KGNU Playlists Top Releases week ending 4.26.2004 Weekly Report from Boulder My vote for most surreal/unreal headline of the week goes to CNN for “Bush moved by photos of military caskets.” If that is so then why did people lose their jobs for taking and releasing those? I applaud them for making these images available. Death is a fact of war and I certainly don’t think it helps the families who have lost loved ones for us to ignore that, hide the images away, and not be able to acknowledge their sacrifice. You can see the images at www.TheMemoryHole.org. I awoke this morning to Amy Goodman’s coverage of the women’s march yesterday in Washington. I am a firm believer in choice and was glad to see that close to a million people made it to the capitol to show their support for reproductive rights. Last night the Turkish performer Latif Bolat was in town. He was joined by some of the members of Sherefe for a lovely concert of Turkish mystic/devotional music. Bolat plays the baglama, a member of the lute family and sings beautifully. He was trained as a classical opera singer but found himself stealing away to play his traditional music.
