Weekly Report from Boulder
I'm back in finally after an extended weekend in Detroit. My sister had Friday through Monday off so we got to spend some quality time together.

The main reason for the trip was the California Guitar Trio playing in the Detroit Institute of Arts. They played Friday night in the Diego Rivera Mural Room. A lovely setting for a terrific performance. This was my first time to hear some of the new material they've just finished recording for an album due out later this year. I like the way they are incorporating some new sounds from their effects pedals and that they've pulled in such a variety of styles, from the classical to surf to calypso. The setting brought in a great range in the audience of young to old as well as old fans and people new to their music. But across the board they were met with great acclaim.

We got to stay right near the museum at the Inn on Ferry Street, just around the corner from the museum and off Woodward Avenue. This is a beautiful place and very quiet and cozy. We walked up to the Majestic CafÈ on Friday for lunch. I understand the performance space there needs some attention, but the cafÈ itself is great. Bert and I walked around our area a bit, making sure to stop by the train car out front of the museum that Yoko Ono designed. It's an old train car but it brings to mind not just the immigrants who have been crowded into train cars but their role in the holocaust as well.
