Weekly Report from Boulder
So last Tuesday a truck driving through Boulder caught what must have been the main cable line coming into town. It drove reportedly close to a mile before being stopped. Cable around the county was wiped out, including at my house. Normally my cable outages don't last too long so I didn't call til Wednesday. And Thursday, and Friday- Finally I was scheduled for a service call between Noon and 4p on Saturday. The technician arrived at 5:40! Thankfully he got me all hooked up for the 6p faceoff.
Not much to say about the game and results but Roy-Hooo!!!!! I knew the boys could do it. Downtown Denver was a bit insane looking Saturday night after the Stanley Cup was awarded. And today is a parade for the Avalanche. I'd love to go but that would eat up most of the day and I have too much to do on Mondays. It won't be too long now before the Tour de France starts, one way for me to deal with hockey withdrawal.
It's Bike-to-Work week here in Boulder and I am enjoying the ride to the new place. We are right on the bike path so it cuts out some traffic on my commute. Since I want to see Calexico tomorrow I will have to drive but otherwise I hope to ride most of the week. For anyone who has forwarded the message about not buying from Exxon or Mobil this summer, I want to remind you that switching one day a week of driving for biking, walking or bussing represents a 20% reduction in commuting. That's one way to hit the oil companies, by reducing demand.
We're slowly settling in here at the new station. Our air studio won't be ready for at least another week so we are currently broadcasting from our production room. On Thursday we did another load out of the old facility so there isn't much left over there. I still have cardboard boxes as part of my décor but at least I have gotten a few things on the walls.
