Archive - A. Ballad Nightly

originally broadcast Nov 20, 2006.

"An eclectic musician, in search of something much greater than himself, Ramaya Soskin has been writing and performing music in Boulder Colorado since 2000. Starting first at Naropa University, he formed a trio named Specter X. While maturing as a songwriter he practiced his craft and soon started the band SLOWROSA with local songstress Cate Coslor, Tres Altman, Chris Mustaine and Jeb Bows. As a solo artist Ramaya has been crafting a set of new material, both haunting and revealing. His forthcoming CD is a collection of delicate lullabyes, saucy rockers, and sultry ballads. Written and recorded in his shoebox of a home, it will surely make it's mark in many hearts." (www.myspace.com/ramayasoskin)

March 23: Dick Turner

"I do a sort of theatrical experimental/pop cabaret act. That is, that's how I think people experience it. I composed classical music for a long time and then, more or less out of the blue, began writing songs. Now I write songs that seem to me to be in different styles and hope, by combining them in a set, to create the feeling of development, without harmonic 'digressions'." - http://www.myspace.com/turnerdick

March 9: Wide Mouth Grin

Wide Mouth Grin is often described as 'jam band', but their music is not isolated to one genre. Sonically, the band manages to bridge a gap between the abstract improvisational sound of many typical jam bands and jazz artists, and the note for note more 'prog-rock' Zappa-esque sound that showcases their individual musicianship.
