May 11: Elin Palmer / Kal Cahoone
A special double bill this evening, featuring sets from Denver's Elin Palmer and Kal Cahoone.
We'll get a preview of their forthcoming solo releases and the May 29th show at Swallow Hill with Wovenhand.
Elin was born in Värmland Sweden, and her music roots stem back to the folk music of Sweden. Typically hired for her precision with the violin and Nyckelharpa (an ancient Swedish instrument) she is more of a “multi instrumentalist”; even rocking out some guitar for the upcoming album. Elin has had the pleasure of working with a lot of acclaimed artists throughout the years including 16 Horsepower, The Czars, Wovenhand, The Fray, and with Munly and the Lee Lewis Harlots.
After spending some time in Chile and Argentina, Kal Cahoone returned to Denver and immediately formed band Tarantella with John Rumley (Slim Cessna's Auto Club and Hush). Since 2000, Kal has recorded with Lilium, and has appeared doing back-up vocals for locals Munly and Roger Green. Kal has been onstage to play keyboards for Woven Hand and has appeared with The Denver Gentlemen. Her music reflects South American influences, incorporating enchanting vocals, accompanied by haunting piano & accordion.
