Holden Young Trio

The Holden Young Trio (HY3) is a fresh and funky power-trio out of Colorado. With influences from Fela Kuti, James Brown, Wayne Krantz, Bob Marley and the Red Hot Chili Peppers the HY3 sound "captivates listeners and propels dancers".

Growing up in Maine, Holden fished with his father and learned music through his mother's collection of 60's music. Both musically inclined at one point only to have turned to fishing and psychology this contrast is reflected in Holden's unique guitar style and songwriting. He writes, "She was peace walkin' for Vietnam, my father rode the water a fisherman; in the Navy its so crazy that they ever made me." in his song "Love On".

Holden went on to master his skills in Boston at Berklee College of Music and also in Nashville's glitter and glam; where he recorded his first album in 2005, Not Much & Everything. Now residing in Colorado with 15 years of guitar study and 8 years studying piano and world rhythms, Holden is receiving great enthusiasm from the mountain area and is consistently expanding his touring circuit.

Holden's trio includes New Orleans original Billy Franklin on bass and New York native Eric Rolls on drums. After playing for the past year they are recording Holden's anticipated second album and developing their funky live show even more.
