Jake Schepps & The Expedition Quartet

Banjo player Jake Schepps & The Expedition Quartet play the Kabaret in support of their latest recording, Ten Thousand Leaves. The Expedition Quartet plays adventurous stringband music. The combo features banjoist and composer Jake Schepps, Greg Schochet on guitar and mandolin, violinist Ryan Drickey and the indomitable Eric Thorin on bass. Feeding off the rich and eclectic Colorado acoustic music scene, the quartet remains true to the artistic values of stringband, yet draws on certain jazz sensibilities, such as extensive musical interplay and more extended harmonies. As Sing Out Magazine states, Schepps plays “nothing less than excellent music, in both form and function. Thoughtfully constructed arrangements provide depth and breadth, leaving no stone unturned, no player out in the cold.” And jazzmando.com states, "Progressive stringbands should always be this easy to listen to."

Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, it wasn’t until attending college in Colorado five minutes from the famed “Red Rocks Amphitheatre” (where she spent all her money then) that it struck her she wanted to write and perform her own music.
