John Common returns to the Kabaret. As the singer/songwriter/guitarist for Rainville, John built a reputation for writing gritty, honest songs and then playing and singing the hell out of them live. This evening features John with his latest incarnation.

Now based in Boulder, Roshan Bartiya is a masterful player of the sitar. He'll be joining us for an evening of traditional Indian music. Raised in a family with a long musical lineage, for many years Bartiya has traveled and performed, and composed music for the Indian film industry.

Duo Sõkyõ, featuring David Wheeler on shakuhachi and Yoko Hiraoka on koto, return to the Kabaret studios. Renowned performers and teachers of traditional Japanese music, they will perform classical repertoire as well as contemporary works.

The Lonesome Sisters, Sarah Hawker and Debra Clifford, are known for their hard hitting high harmonies and their love of singing about tragedy and heartache in all its forms. Join us as we feature this New York based duo live on KGNU's Kabaret.

In our continuing collaboration with the Colorado Music Festival, join us as we present kora player Mamadou Diabate on the KGNU Kabaret. Coming from a long lineage of African griot, Mamadou Diabate hails from the Mandinka tradition in Mali. Joining him will be Balla Kouyate on balafon and Noah Jarrett on acoustic bass.

Ron Bucknam and Farrell Lowe will be performing free and structured improvisations live on KGNU's Kabaret. They will be performing electro-acoustic music using a combination of electric and acoustic guitars, electronic drum technologies, and a mutant analogue electronics setup. Ron and Farrell were founding members of the group Coyote Palace.

Venezuelan group Un Mundo. The first of two collaborations this summer with the Colorado Music Festival, “Un Mundo” is formed by a group of virtuoso Latin American musicians banded together to bring forth the excitement, passion and energy of the beautiful music of Venezuela and Latin America.
