The whole reason for making a web site!

This is a batch of time wasters from my bookmarks list (I've saved the real geek stuff for myself).
Since this "links" page is new, it is defiantly lacking in originality.
Check back often and listen for updates on the show.

A lot of these links are "off-site" videos.
Keep KGNU in mind when you wander off into the real world.

The CAMEO Dufecta

A couple of great, life changing, videos from the 80's!

The Marx Brothers

This 15 second clip from a rehearsal of Animal Crackers, (1930), in a test of the Multicolor Film system. It is the only known color film of all of the Marx Brothers.

Poster art for Earthquake (1974)

Why!

This was Chuck's 3rd best film and one of only 3 films shown with "Sensorround". The information on this site was scoured from everywhere in and around Hollywood; from 30 year-old books, to final shooting scripts.!

Wichita Faro

Play the game that killed Doc' Holiday. This post covers the history of a card game that used to be the bomb. I do think it would be more fun with real money.

Real Malls

Many hours could be lost cruising and even more hours can be lost cruising pictures and stories of by-gone malls. Malls with carpet and cafeterias, massive fountains and huge amounts of indoor open space. Viva la Food Court!

Film & Previews

BMW's are over priced but check out their films! No longer available from their web site, they are posted at YouTube. If there has to be advertising, it should be good.

BMW produced The Hire short-film series for the internet. The smaller intricacies of each short film's plot differ but one constant remains: Clive Owen plays "The Driver", a man who goes from place to place, getting hired by various people to be a sort of transport for their vital needs. Key producers included David Fincher, Ridley and Tony Scott. Other prominent directors that made up the team included John Frankenheimer, Ang Lee, Wong Kar-Wai, Guy Ritchie, Alejandro González Iñárritu, John Woo, Joe Carnahan.

Show these to your film-snob and watch them freak!

Videos & Television

Opera in the 80's.
Malcom McLaren - Madame Butterfly

This was quite the song in 1984. Based on the opera, it reached #13 in the UK and #16 in Australia. The producer of the single, Stephen Hague, became a much sought after producer in the techno pop genre following his work with McLaren on the following full length LP "Fans".

You might say to yourself, "What do beautiful european models laying around a sauna have to do with the opera?" I couldn't tell you.

Warning, this video contains blood.
Robbie Williams - Rock DJ

This Robbie Williams video was banned by MTV. I can't decide if it's gross or if it's art. I love the song and "enjoy" the video but maybe I've overlooked something.

Pop music can make a statement.

The Rarely Used "KGNU Stereo" Bumper
MCA DiscoVision Opening

If you've heard Soul & Waffles, you might recognize this clip of audio. This goodie started off all DiscoVision laser disks between 1978 and 1982.

By the way, KGNU never had an official "Stereo Bumper". I just enjoy junk like this.
