KGNU Friday Morning Connections Roger J. Wendell Roger started volunteering at KGNU in early 1995 when he completed the station’s “Introduction to Radio” course. Roger began as a music programmer on Restless Mornings and later migrated over to Sleepless Nights. It was during the fall 1995 pledge drive, while working on the air with News Director Sam Fuqua, that Roger became interested in News and Public Affairs programs. In early 1996 Roger began conducting taped interviews with various environmental activists. In January, 1997, Roger made his first appearance on Connections as a co-host with Liz Lane. It was then that Roger became “hooked” and committed to regular volunteering on Connections, the Thursday Evening Call-in Show, and a variety of appearances on the Morning Magazine. Roger holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management and has volunteered for a variety of nonprofit groups like the Sierra Club, Colorado Mountain Club, and Colorado QRP Club. Roger has also been involved in local politics, around the Metro area, having served in neighborhood caucuses, as a delegate to county conventions, as an election judge and member of an election commission. Roger’s interest in radio started when he discovered amateur radio as a teenager which brought him exciting experiences as a Coast Guard radioman between his high school and college years. Roger and his wife have been married nearly 30 years having raised two great children who can only listen to KGNU via the Internet because of their own travels! In addition to being the original creator of KGNU's "Connections" web page Roger maintains his own site at: http://www.rogerwendell.com
