The Day The Music Stopped

The future of independent music on the internet is in immediate danger. Royalty rates for webcasters have been drastically increased by a recent ruling and are due to go into effect on July 15 (retroactive to Jan 1, 2006!). If the increased rates remain unchanged, the majority of webcasters, including KGNU, will likely fall silent on this date.
If you're concerned, you can call your congressional representatives today and demand that non-commercial radio stations like KGNU are allowed to bring you the music of independent artists, the music of other cultures, and the sounds of the underground.
