KGNU Presents:
Dirty Dozen Brass Band
Bluebird Theatre For a band that has always been known for pushing boundaries forward, it was a bit of a dilemma when the Dirty Dozen Brass Band was faced with the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of their debut release, "My Feet Can't Fail Me Now." The album heralded the coming of a new breed of brass band in the city of New Orleans, and for that matter, around the world.

So how does a band known for their revolutionary spirit in a traditional world celebrate their 25th anniversary? By looking forward, of course. The Dirty Dozen Brass Band will be re-issuing the re-mastered version of the quintessential brass band album that has defined the modern brass band era since its original release via direct-to-fan digital delivery of the music and much more. In conjunction with the release, the Dirty Dozen will continue the celebration by performing the album, My Feet Can't Fail Me Now, in its entirety throughout their tour. While the Dozen have always been known for reinventing and rearranging their stellar catalog, this tour will find the band digging deep into the repertoire and revisiting certain pieces that haven't been played live since the original release of the album and earlier.

Of course over time, tracks such as the title track and Blackbird Special have become showstoppers throughout the bands career, songs like I Ate Up the Apple Tree and Mary Mary have been on the proverbial shelf for far too long. Don't be surprised when banjos and marching drums return to the stage with em.

KGNU Presents:
Itchy-O
Bluebird Theatre A throbbing 32-piece band of masked chaos invites you to dissolve the performer/audience divide and melt into the bedlam that is the disorienting power of itchy-O.
The Itchy-O Marching Band (IOMB) is a Denver-based percussion-centered electronic marching band and the mobile arm of the experimental film and music troupe Itchy-O. Itchy-O brings a sophisticatedly savage sound and the sheer ecstasy of electronic instruments, untethered and running free. With a driving drum corps complemented by an arsenal of special surround sound effects units including synthesizers, theremin, vocoders, and several other hand held electronic devices, the IOMB completely engulfs and immerses the audience from every angle in an electric bog of music, ephemera and spectacle. The unidentifiable IOMB is waging war on predictable mediocrity with their guerrilla-style performances which feature an artfully hazardous Chinese lion, sensuous dancing twin apparitions, fog, strobes, sequins, sweat and fury.
